Advising the Bishops Commission for Liturgy in Australia

OUR ROLE

The National Liturgical Council advises the Bishops Commission for Liturgy in Australia. It fosters and promotes the life and mission of the Catholic Church in the area of liturgical worship.

Established by the Australian Catholic Bishops, the National Liturgical Council provides advice on matters pertaining to the pastoral liturgical life of Australian Catholics, the publishing of liturgical texts and the encouragement of liturgical education initiatives.

A range of authoritative announcements, guidelines and resources are provided to assist those who have an interest in deepening their understanding of liturgical worship and are involved in liturgy preparation and ministry.

Our Website

This website is a central hub for authoritative guidelines, pastoral resources, and liturgical formation developed under the mandate of the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference.

It supports all those involved in liturgy preparation and ministry—clergy, lay leaders, musicians, educators, and parish teams—by offering clear, up-to-date materials that deepen understanding of Catholic liturgical worship.

Organised around key liturgical ministries, the seasons of the Church year, and current national initiatives, the site exists to promote full, conscious, and active participation in the liturgy across Australia.
