The anointing of the sick involves the whole Christian community, where the people are called to offer their love and care for the sick by frequent visits, joining in sacramental celebrations, and various other prayers and blessings which they can lead. The sick themselves are invited and enabled to unite themselves more closely to Christ in his suffering, and to offer themselves with him for love of others.
